Hey everybody, I wanted to take a few
Speaker:minutes to introduce you to my airplane
Speaker:that I've had for about six months or so.
Speaker:This is what we call Lil Ru.
Speaker:This is a Jabaroo J230, a 2008 model.
Speaker:And she's just an absolute blast to fly.
Speaker:We've really been enjoying her.
Speaker:I'm doing some lessons for students,
Speaker:doing some transition training, even
Speaker:doing its technologically advanced
Speaker:airplane, so I'm even doing TAA training
Speaker:for commercial candidates
Speaker:who need to get more hours.
Speaker:So yeah, she's a fun airplane, really a
Speaker:blast to fly, and I'm going to introduce
Speaker:you a little to her
Speaker:today and also take you for a
Speaker:(Music)
Speaker:All right, I'm going to be
Speaker:doing a little voiceover here.
Speaker:So, kind of like a director's commentary.
Speaker:So I'll pipe in from time to time when I
Speaker:want to give some after-the-fact
Speaker:commentary on what
Speaker:you're seeing or hearing.
Speaker:And so hopefully you enjoy that, gives
Speaker:you a little more insight.
Speaker:(Music)
Speaker:(Music)
Speaker:By the way, that's one of my favorite
Speaker:parts of this video when I act surprised
Speaker:when there was no passengers.
Speaker:I didn't mean to do that, but when I was
Speaker:watching it later, that was pretty funny.
Speaker:heat is off.
Speaker:Propeller is clear.
Speaker:Master's coming on.
Speaker:Boost pump on for five seconds.
Speaker:Clear.
Speaker:Start second car.
Speaker:Instruments coming on right away.
Speaker:And we do have oil pressure.
Speaker:That's good.
Speaker:Cortex heat is across.
Speaker:Good.
Speaker:Lights will turn the naps on.
Speaker:Leave the strobes on.
Speaker:Lift the landing light off.
Speaker:Weather received in flight instruments.
Speaker:So go ahead and turn the transponder on.
Speaker:Get my headset.
Speaker:Wind 090 at 5, temperature 32 viewpoint
Speaker:minus 2, altimeter 2, niner 8 niner,
Speaker:visual approaching use landing in
Speaker:departing, runway 4 left and 4 right,
Speaker:notice check if you notice your UAS
Speaker:activity, crane's in minimums.
Speaker:south of runway center line 124.6, north
Speaker:of runway center line 119.7, advise on
Speaker:initial contact, you
Speaker:have information Charlie.
Speaker:Alright, I went ahead and got the ATIS.
Speaker:I'm ground 994, leave my just to make
Speaker:sure there's not any major closures or
Speaker:anything, but I'm just taxiing over
Speaker:to the fuel pumps so I don't really need
Speaker:to talk to anybody not
Speaker:ready to go yet ( Radio )
Speaker:So just listening to ground if they have
Speaker:to get in touch with me.
Speaker:( Radio ) That's never
Speaker:happened before, you never know.
Speaker:( Radio )
Speaker:Why is 5 kilo Sierra parked
Speaker:in front of the fuel island?
Speaker:( Radio ) That is strange.
Speaker:So,
Speaker:So I was talking
Speaker:there about 5 kilo Sierra.
Speaker:Later on in this video 6 kilo
Speaker:Sierra will play a big role.
Speaker:Both of those airplanes are part of a
Speaker:club that I am a member
Speaker:of but I also teach at.
Speaker:And so I've flown those airplanes before.
Speaker:That'll come into play later on.
Speaker:But the reason I was surprised it was at
Speaker:the pump is because we have a deal with
Speaker:the FBO and they
Speaker:always fill it by the truck.
Speaker:And so it turns out that I don't think it
Speaker:was actually parked there to get fuel.
Speaker:It just happened to be there.
Speaker:Anyway, it's going to come back up.
Speaker:go ahead and set that.
Speaker:Instruments are gonna come off.
Speaker:(Music)
Speaker:(Music)
Speaker:All right, I'm going to talk about
Speaker:something here that you
Speaker:might notice during the video.
Speaker:You might notice some flashing on the
Speaker:warning light above the PFD there.
Speaker:That happens quite a bit when I'm doing
Speaker:things like touch and goes or landings.
Speaker:I get terrain warnings and different
Speaker:types of warnings like that all the time
Speaker:on there, and they have to be
Speaker:acknowledged or it'll continue to flash.
Speaker:I'm going to work on fixing some of those
Speaker:so it doesn't happen as much.
Speaker:You'll also notice sometimes during the
Speaker:flight possibly that the light stays on.
Speaker:Well, there was a mistake in some of the
Speaker:limits that I had to figure out.
Speaker:It was happening for a couple of days and
Speaker:there were no actual
Speaker:problems going on at the time,
Speaker:but one of the limits had gotten messed
Speaker:up and so it was latched on all the time.
Speaker:The day after this, I fixed it.
Speaker:I talked to GRT.
Speaker:And they gave me some things to try and I
Speaker:was actually able to fix it.
Speaker:So that went away.
Speaker:But if you're wondering why that's on,
Speaker:sometimes that's why.
Speaker:If you're wondering why
Speaker:it's flashing, that's normal.
Speaker:off.
Speaker:There we go.
Speaker:Lights as required.
Speaker:We're good there.
Speaker:Transponder is set to altitude.
Speaker:We'll get that on.
Speaker:Radios are set.
Speaker:Got 119.7 on the other side.
Speaker:All right, take off brief.
Speaker:We're going to be
Speaker:taking off on four, right?
Speaker:It looks like there's almost no wind.
Speaker:Any wind there is looks
Speaker:like it's down the runway.
Speaker:We should be off the
Speaker:ground by Bravo taxiway easily.
Speaker:If we're not, something's wrong.
Speaker:We're going to abort the take off.
Speaker:If we're on the take off roll and
Speaker:something anomalous happens,
Speaker:we're going to cut the power.
Speaker:And we're going to slow
Speaker:down and get off the runway.
Speaker:If we are off the ground, but there's
Speaker:runway remaining, we're
Speaker:going to do the same thing.
Speaker:Chop the power.
Speaker:We're going to put it back down on the
Speaker:remaining runway and heavy braking.
Speaker:If we're in the air and something
Speaker:happens, we're going to keep it straight
Speaker:ahead within 30 degrees.
Speaker:And we're going to find some places as
Speaker:safe as possible to land.
Speaker:If we have electrical power, we're going
Speaker:to put the flaps down more.
Speaker:They'll already be at 10 degrees.
Speaker:If we're in the air and there's no runway
Speaker:remaining, but we are 800 feet AGL.
Speaker:That's 2200 feet.
Speaker:MSL.
Speaker:The airport is available to us.
Speaker:Falcon Ground, LightSport 648 Juliet is
Speaker:complete with a run up.
Speaker:LightSport 648 Juliet,
Speaker:continue taxiing, monitor tower.
Speaker:Continue taxiing over to tower 4H Juliet.
Speaker:We're sending a note.
Speaker:We're looking for traffic, not by street.
Speaker:Officer 2080 Fakken Tower University,
Speaker:Blue Dep pursuit, power out, OK, you're
Speaker:going to touch the existing
Speaker:Well, if you hadn't noticed, taking off
Speaker:from KFFZ, that's Fackenfield in Mesa,
Speaker:Arizona, it is a very,
Speaker:very busy GA airport.
Speaker:There's a lot of training going on there,
Speaker:but also a lot of based aircraft.
Speaker:So you'll notice during this flight that
Speaker:the radio's pretty much constant.
Speaker:There's always people in the pattern.
Speaker:There's always things happening.
Speaker:Anyway, you'll see here,
Speaker:it's busier than most airports.
Speaker:Takeoff doors are closed,
Speaker:flaps are set ten degrees.
Speaker:Seatbelts are
Speaker:secured, landing light is on.
Speaker:( Pause )
Speaker:( Pause ) ( Pause )
Speaker:Alright, final is clear.
Speaker:( Pause )
Speaker:Alright, power is coming up.
Speaker:No more braking.
Speaker:Airspeed is alive.
Speaker:Engine instruments are in the green.
Speaker:Okay, we'll fly the nose.
Speaker:( Pause ) Just continuing that heading
Speaker:for now for IFR citation and balance.
Speaker:No need to return to the green.
Speaker:( Pause ) Alright, flaps are coming up.
Speaker:( Pause ) ( Pause )
Speaker:( Pause ) ( Pause ) ( Pause )
Speaker:Juliet runway 4R, cleared to land.
Speaker:Cleared to land 4R, 1-6-2.
Speaker:Music
Speaker:( Radio )
Speaker:All right, I thought it'd be a good
Speaker:opportunity to talk a little bit about
Speaker:Lil Ru, tell you a little more about her.
Speaker:She's a 2008 J230 from Jabaroo.
Speaker:It's got an updated Gen 4 Jabaroo 3,300
Speaker:six-cylinder engine in it and an engine
Speaker:instrumentation system from GRT or Grand
Speaker:Rapids Technologies.
Speaker:The PFD and the MFD are also from GRT as
Speaker:well as the autopilot.
Speaker:It's all part of an integrated Pretty
Speaker:easy to use but as with most more
Speaker:advanced instruments you have to spend
Speaker:some time to get to know
Speaker:them to get proficient.
Speaker:Here's the other
Speaker:thing about this airplane.
Speaker:It's not that easy to land and take off
Speaker:compared to more traditional trainers.
Speaker:I've noticed this as I've done TA
Speaker:training for a handful of commercial
Speaker:certificate candidates and I've noticed
Speaker:how they've struggled at first with the
Speaker:rudder with how light it is and probably
Speaker:other parts of the design.
Speaker:The left turning axis on takeoff are
Speaker:pretty pronounced compared to your
Speaker:average Cessna or Piper.
Speaker:You got to be Johnny on the spot with the
Speaker:rudder and it's a strong push on the
Speaker:right to keep that nose
Speaker:straight when you're taking off.
Speaker:But it's not just on takeoff either.
Speaker:The adverse yaw is much greater than on
Speaker:an Archer or even a 172 in just normal
Speaker:turns when you're flying the airplane.
Speaker:Besides the risk of ground looping, it
Speaker:kind of feels a bit like
Speaker:flying a tailwheel aircraft.
Speaker:You have to really be on the rudder.
Speaker:Likewise for landings it can feel a
Speaker:little squirrely on touchdown and roll
Speaker:out compared to common trainers.
Speaker:Not as planted if you will.
Speaker:You really have to dance on the rudders
Speaker:to keep the nose straight at those speeds
Speaker:just after touchdown.
Speaker:You really get rewarded in this airplane
Speaker:for keeping the nose off the
Speaker:ground as long as possible.
Speaker:So riding that wheelie on
Speaker:landing really helps out.
Speaker:The slower you are when the nose wheel
Speaker:touches the ground, the
Speaker:more off you're going to be.
Speaker:So today since I don't get to do that
Speaker:many landings anymore since I'm either
Speaker:with students who do the landings or I'm
Speaker:going somewhere with my wife or someone
Speaker:else and I only get one
Speaker:landing at our destination.
Speaker:So I thought I'd go up and
Speaker:just stay in the pattern a bit.
Speaker:It was really fun just to relax and get
Speaker:some reps in like that.
Speaker:Like most skills in aviation it's a bit
Speaker:perishable and I want to make sure I'm
Speaker:keeping my proficiency up.
Speaker:Maybe I got a little too relaxed though
Speaker:as you'll see later in the flight so yeah
Speaker:a little foreshadowing for you.

Speaker:There you heard me coach
Speaker:myself more right rudder there.
Speaker:That goes back to what I was talking
Speaker:about a few minutes ago about, you know,
Speaker:needing an extra rudder in this airplane.
Speaker:So sometimes, uh, when I'm a little out
Speaker:of practice, I got to coach
Speaker:myself up a little bit too.

Speaker:Alright, how about some numbers?
Speaker:That might be interesting for you, so
Speaker:I'll throw some out here.
Speaker:While the engine is very conventional by
Speaker:today's standards, it does
Speaker:have a bit of a wide RPM range.
Speaker:I say conventional because it's a
Speaker:horizontally opposed, air-cooled, direct
Speaker:drive, carbureted aircraft engine.
Speaker:Pretty standard stuff.
Speaker:But there are some things that are a
Speaker:little different, and we
Speaker:can talk about that now.
Speaker:First, it's got an
Speaker:altitude compensating carburetor.
Speaker:There is no mixture
Speaker:control that the pilot can use.
Speaker:The carburetor changes the mixture on its
Speaker:own as appropriate for
Speaker:whatever density altitude we're in.
Speaker:Interesting concept, but yeah, no control
Speaker:of the mixture by the pilot, which is a
Speaker:little strange when you
Speaker:first start flying it.
Speaker:To shut the engine down, for example, you
Speaker:turn it off like a car.
Speaker:With the key.
Speaker:It's something that's a little
Speaker:different for most airplanes.
Speaker:( Radio )
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Radio ) ( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:It's also a pretty small engine, about
Speaker:200 cubic inches of displacement.
Speaker:But it's a six cylinder
Speaker:engine, about 120 horsepower.
Speaker:The result of that six cylinders, at
Speaker:least from my perspective, is that the
Speaker:engine is very smooth,
Speaker:very little vibration.
Speaker:With the lightweight carbon fiber prop
Speaker:this airplane has, it just
Speaker:starts and stops like a car.
Speaker:It fires up basically
Speaker:instantly every time.
Speaker:You can barely hear or feel it when it
Speaker:happens, relatively speaking, of course.
Speaker:It's pretty cool.
Speaker:Anyway, I'll let you watch this landing
Speaker:and then I'll pick this back up after.
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Pause ) ( Radio ) ( Radio )

Speaker:( Pause ) ( Radio ) ( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:I saw an opportunity for a short approach
Speaker:so I asked for it and got it.
Speaker:I don't, I haven't really gotten a chance
Speaker:to do a ton of those in this airplane but
Speaker:I like to feel what the glide feels like
Speaker:and kind of really get to start to feel
Speaker:how the energy is going to need to be
Speaker:managed on something like that so when I
Speaker:see this opportunity I had to take it.
Speaker:There you go.
Speaker:( Pause ) ( Pause ) ( Radio ) ( Pause )
Speaker:( Pause ) ( Pause ) ( Radio )
Speaker:( Pause ) ( Radio ) ( Pause )
Speaker:I should note this
Speaker:airplane's pretty slippery.
Speaker:It's got a 12 to one glide ratio.
Speaker:So it's actually not
Speaker:that easy to get down.
Speaker:So it's good for me to practice these
Speaker:power off 180s and things like that.
Speaker:So I can get a feel for it.
Speaker:It's quite a bit more
Speaker:floaty, quite a bit more glidy.
Speaker:If that's a word, then the
Speaker:trainers that I'm in a lot.
Speaker:( Pause ) ( Pause ) ( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:( Pause ) ( Pause ) ( Pause ) ( Pause )
Speaker:Lie drive Arm assistant Access
Speaker:Alright, I gotta mention it.
Speaker:I mean, I don't get to practice these a
Speaker:lot, but I did put that right on the
Speaker:thousand footers which was my target.
Speaker:So, hey, you win some sometimes.
Speaker:Mark Copekell for the three light shirt out. Light shirt out.
Speaker:Left close traffic approach.
Speaker:Left close traffic behind that warrior
Speaker:that's about my 9 o'clock for you Julia.
Speaker:Thank you.
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:Also, something that's a little different, like I said earlier, is the RPM range. Some of the numbers feel a little bit
Speaker:normal, like it likes to
Speaker:idle and taxi about 1,000 RPM.
Speaker:That's pretty normal.
Speaker:But pulling the throttle all the way out,
Speaker:all the way to idle, doesn't really
Speaker:reduce it much from that 1,000, maybe
Speaker:down to about 900 or so.
Speaker:Some of the other RPMs
Speaker:you use seem kind of normal.
Speaker:For example, I usually fly
Speaker:the pattern at about 2,100 RPM.
Speaker:The difference is, when I'm flying at
Speaker:2,100 RPM in the pattern, that's usually
Speaker:at about 80 knots, not the 90 or so you
Speaker:would see in a conventional trainer.
Speaker:Let's talk about cruise.
Speaker:This is where things are a bit different.
Speaker:The standard cruise range
Speaker:is from 2,750 to 2,850 RPM.
Speaker:She'll cruise at about 110 knots
Speaker:indicated or more at the higher end of
Speaker:that range, usually somewhere about 120,
Speaker:maybe even a little more
Speaker:true airspeed, maybe 125.
Speaker:She'll do that sipping
Speaker:about 5.2 gallons an hour.
Speaker:There's an information screen on the MFD
Speaker:engine page that, among other things,
Speaker:shows the current mileage and
Speaker:the average mileage as well.
Speaker:Often, she reports that we're getting
Speaker:about 23, 24, or even 25
Speaker:nautical miles per gallon.
Speaker:I haven't done the math exactly, but that
Speaker:translates to likely over 30 statute
Speaker:miles per gallon or
Speaker:somewhere around that.
Speaker:It's pretty funny that in cruise, my
Speaker:airplane gets better gas mileage than, I
Speaker:don't know, like a Corolla.
Speaker:It does it at about twice the typical
Speaker:speed and in straight
Speaker:lines to your destination.
Speaker:I don't know.
Speaker:I love the efficiency
Speaker:we get in this thing.
Speaker:looking good.
Speaker:I'm gonna start to walk that power out.
Speaker:Alright, power's all the way down.
Speaker:Just gonna let it float
Speaker:to the thousand footers.
Speaker:(Silence) Alright, that's good.
Speaker:Keep that nose light.
Speaker:All right, we are not
Speaker:gonna let it go to the left.
Speaker:Fly that nose.
Speaker:Full power.
Speaker:(Radio Chatter) (Radio Chatter)
Speaker:Obviously, if you've watched the video
Speaker:part of this flight, not just listen to
Speaker:the audio, you'll also notice that it has
Speaker:a control stick and not a yoke.
Speaker:So for those only listening, it's a
Speaker:shared center stick where it comes up in
Speaker:kind of a why, so there's a grip for each
Speaker:pilot on the same control stick.
Speaker:It's pretty easy to fly
Speaker:and works out pretty well.
Speaker:Because the stick is between the two
Speaker:pilots, there has to be a throttle
Speaker:control for the outside hands, and sure
Speaker:enough, there is a dual throttle control,
Speaker:one on the far left of the panel and one
Speaker:on the far right of the
Speaker:panel, so either pilot can use it.
Speaker:One more thing that might be a little
Speaker:different is that the push to talk for
Speaker:either pilot is just above their
Speaker:respective throttle control on the panel.
Speaker:It actually is pretty easy to use since
Speaker:your hand is usually resting right there,
Speaker:closer on the throttle, because there is
Speaker:an arm rest on each door that leads your
Speaker:arm straight to the
Speaker:throttle and the push to talk.
Speaker:Likewise, there's an arm rest in the
Speaker:center for the stick hand.
Speaker:Seriously, it's a very comfortable
Speaker:airplane to fly as your hands are just
Speaker:sort of naturally resting
Speaker:in all the right places.
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Radio ) ( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:is your
Speaker:warrior 9 or 5 4 will you be landing out
Speaker:warrior 3 9 or 9 or 5 4 talking to her
Speaker:alright (Silence) nailed it, 75 knots
Speaker:start slowing it down here 70 at least
Speaker:there we are (Silence) (Silence)
Speaker:(Silence) (Silence)
Speaker:(Silence) (Silence) (Silence)
Speaker:alright, alright alright, we are keeping
Speaker:behind the lights for
Speaker:it, for left, clear to the left, you have
Speaker:to get to the earphone
Speaker:box (Silence) (Silence)
Speaker:(Silence) alright, the lights are coming
Speaker:up, and we are going to fly the nose
Speaker:(Silence) (Silence) (Silence) lights for
Speaker:4-8 Juliet, fly straight out fly straight
Speaker:out, 4-8 Juliet (Silence)
Speaker:(Silence) (Silence) lights 4-6 4-8
Speaker:Juliet, follow Cessna,
Speaker:your left and downwind
Speaker:alright, we will follow that traffic on
Speaker:downwind to insight 4-8 Juliet
Speaker:lights 4-4-8 Juliet, thank you traffic
Speaker:over the confluence, we will follow you
Speaker:for additional traffic, after you are
Speaker:right, we will be turning northbound
Speaker:outside of you as well, we will be
Speaker:looking 4-8 Juliet extend downwind
Speaker:There was six kilo Sierra.
Speaker:Pay attention to them.
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:( Pause ) ( Pause ) ( Radio )
Speaker:So let me know what else you might want
Speaker:to know about Lil Ru and I'll try to
Speaker:include more
Speaker:information in future videos.
Speaker:Oh well it might be obvious but I'll tell
Speaker:you anyway why we call it a Lil Ru.
Speaker:First she's small so that part's pretty
Speaker:obvious but the Ru part comes of course
Speaker:from her manufacturer Jabberoo.
Speaker:Ru happens to also be a family name in my
Speaker:family so it fits even better.
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:( Radio )
Speaker:Alright, back to the 6 kilo Sierra.
Speaker:Notice I'm kind of following them around
Speaker:in the pattern a little bit here.
Speaker:They're ahead of me.
Speaker:Anyway, it'll come back up in a minute.
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Radio )
Speaker:( Radio ) ( Pause ) ( Pause ) ( Pause )
Speaker:( Pause ) That was nice.
Speaker:Right on the money.
Speaker:Right on the thousand footers.
Speaker:( Radio )
Speaker:Negative contact.
Speaker:48 Juliet, we'll be looking.
Speaker:I should have mentioned this earlier, but
Speaker:one of the reasons I was out here trying
Speaker:to kind of do spot landings, I was trying
Speaker:to make sure I was landing most of the
Speaker:time beyond the beginning of the thousand
Speaker:footers, is because I'm probably going to
Speaker:be flying my airplane
Speaker:to Oshkosh this year.
Speaker:Yeah, it's going to be awesome.
Speaker:But because I've only had it for six
Speaker:months and I don't get to land it all
Speaker:that often I talked about earlier, I
Speaker:wanted to start getting real familiar
Speaker:about managing the energy like I said
Speaker:before, so that I can get proficient at
Speaker:spot landings, making sure I can hit my
Speaker:spots because that's an important skill
Speaker:when you're flying into Oshkosh.
Speaker:So that's one of the
Speaker:reasons I was out as well.
Speaker:( Radio )
Speaker:left base, turning four
Speaker:left, good touch and go.
Speaker:Good touch and go, four left, following
Speaker:that traffic inside 48 Juliet.
Speaker:( Radio )
Speaker:Alright, well she might be small, but
Speaker:again, if you've watched the video, you
Speaker:do get a glimpse at one point of the
Speaker:baggage compartment.
Speaker:I would bet it's likely the biggest
Speaker:baggage compartment in
Speaker:all of light sport world.
Speaker:My understanding is that the same
Speaker:airframe is used for a four-seat model
Speaker:that's available in other countries, like
Speaker:maybe Australia where it's made.
Speaker:So in this light sport two-seat model,
Speaker:the area behind the seats
Speaker:is absolutely cavernous.
Speaker:And it has a man-sized
Speaker:baggage door to boot.
Speaker:It's one of the things I
Speaker:really love about the airplane.
Speaker:It's really easy to get stuff in and out,
Speaker:and anything light enough to take with
Speaker:you is more than likely going to fit.
Speaker:It's seriously huge back there.
Speaker:So she might be little, but she's got a
Speaker:big heart, as they say.
Speaker:As long as by heart,
Speaker:you mean storage area.
Speaker:(Inaudible) If you need to climb for
Speaker:train, that is approved.
Speaker:Continue straight out.
Speaker:(Inaudible) (Inaudible)
Speaker:Alright, spot is made.
Speaker:(Inaudible) (Inaudible) (Inaudible)
Speaker:Flight 464H Julia, flight straight out,
Speaker:gosh, virtual is departed citation.
Speaker:Flight straight out, 4H Julia.
Speaker:Yeah, that's in sight, 4H Julia.
Speaker:Can't see the wake though.
Speaker:(Inaudible) Turn left
Speaker:crosswind, follow Archer
Speaker:I know, I'm a smart aleck.
Speaker:I thought at least I'd get a little
Speaker:chuckle, but she just moved on.
Speaker:Light 48, Juliet, if you need to climb
Speaker:for train, set us up for
Speaker:it to continue straight out.
Speaker:We'll continue straight out, 4A, Juliet.
Speaker:Warrior 0, Papa Fox, traffic left base to
Speaker:2, Moaf line, Archer.
Speaker:He's on the aisles traffic.
Speaker:We have him on site,
Speaker:7-0, Papa Fox, short.
Speaker:6881, extend downwind.
Speaker:Oxford 6881, extend downwind.
Speaker:Extending downwind, Oxford 6881.
Speaker:Flight 4, 4A, Juliet, traffic ahead and
Speaker:to your left, 1 mile
Speaker:over climb and roof dam.
Speaker:Traffic is in sight, 48 Juliet.
Speaker:Flight 4, 4A, Juliet,
Speaker:follow, set, snap your left.
Speaker:We'll follow that, 7-0, 48 Juliet.
Speaker:Warrior 0, Papa Fox, short, follow,
Speaker:Archer, 2, Moaf line, running
Speaker:4L, good, that's angle number
Speaker:That's not what I'm following, by the
Speaker:way, that's 6 kilo Sierra.
Speaker:(Inaudible)
Speaker:two fourteen running four left continuing
Speaker:traffic holding position.
Speaker:Four left, two
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:I was just feeling good.
Speaker:I was having a good day and getting
Speaker:pretty relaxed and what you're going to
Speaker:see or hear upcoming is me picking up
Speaker:somebody else's call
Speaker:and it's six kilo Sierra.
Speaker:So as I said before,
Speaker:I'm pretty comfortable.
Speaker:I was just sitting there kind of doing my
Speaker:thing following six kilo Sierra.
Speaker:She called them up and I
Speaker:sat there for a second.
Speaker:Nobody answered and then I answered for
Speaker:them and then I got everybody confused.
Speaker:Here you go.
Speaker:full stop.
Speaker:Request in full stop please,
Speaker:we're your one eight seven.
Speaker:Touching six two Juliet, number three,
Speaker:correction number two, follow Warrior one
Speaker:mile final, running four
Speaker:left, six, touch and go.
Speaker:Four eight Juliet, clear, touch and go
Speaker:four left, I thought we
Speaker:were following a Cessna.
Speaker:Six two Juliet, correction,
Speaker:follow Cessna three mile final.

Speaker:Number two, behind the Warrior, four
Speaker:left, clear, touch
Speaker:and go, six two Juliet.
Speaker:Identify three, extend downwind.
Speaker:Okay, so yeah, kind of crazy.
Speaker:So she correctly told
Speaker:Sixquila Sierra to follow an archer.
Speaker:And when I so confidently answered
Speaker:that I was supposed to be following a
Speaker:Cessna, then she's probably going, oh
Speaker:yeah, did I get that wrong?
Speaker:So she corrected herself.
Speaker:And then a few moments later, Sixquila
Speaker:Sierra jumped on and
Speaker:said, did you call me earlier?
Speaker:And so it was at that point when they
Speaker:said that I went, wait a
Speaker:minute, what just happened?
Speaker:But my little blunder
Speaker:there got everybody confused.
Speaker:So, you know, don't say I didn't do
Speaker:anything to keep it interesting that day.
Speaker:empty one on the go, you have to do.
Speaker:Tower five fifty two, contact tower one
Speaker:two four point six, please.
Speaker:Twenty
Speaker:And by the way, I really didn't know for
Speaker:sure what had happened until later on
Speaker:when I went back to the recording and
Speaker:kind of figured it out.
Speaker:But I knew something was up when Sixgila
Speaker:Sierra called back in, but I really
Speaker:didn't even know at the time
Speaker:that I had made that mistake.
Speaker:It's pretty funny.
Speaker:Cross five fifty two, contact tower one

Speaker:Flight 440, Juliet, traffic opposite
Speaker:Baseline's trail running.
Speaker:Four ahead, Juliet.
Speaker:So anyway, she got so distracted that she
Speaker:almost didn't give me a clearance.
Speaker:She did give it to me
Speaker:at the very last minute.
Speaker:I was ready to ask for it or go around,
Speaker:but she did finally give it to me.
Speaker:And then she also, as is the normal
Speaker:practice, didn't tell me to turn right
Speaker:and hold short of the parallel runway
Speaker:because I had to get across over there to
Speaker:park and didn't have me go over to the
Speaker:other controller and everything.
Speaker:I ended up doing it and you'll hear that
Speaker:the other controller kind of cleaned it
Speaker:up by making sure that I
Speaker:was going to hold short.
Speaker:Central West 108, Falcon Tower.
Speaker:Central West 108, if you hear the
Speaker:transmission, I dent.

Speaker:Anyway, you can see where distractions
Speaker:can be critical on the ATC side as well
Speaker:as on the pilot side.
Speaker:Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this.
Speaker:we would like to make a 4
Speaker:stop for the landing, 953.
Speaker:Archer, 953, running 4 left, good to
